David Carefoot, Pastor
Pastor David began his ministry at 1st UMC, New Port Richey in July 2017. He is a native of Ft. Meade, FL in Polk County. He attended seminary at the Duke Divinity School and holds a Ph.D in the Humanities from Florida State University. He’s married to Mary and they have two daughters, Rebecca and Megan. His passion is preaching and inspiring people to follow their own call from God. Please contact him with any pastoral needs that you are your family might have. Martie Grimberg, Administrative Assistant
Martie Grimberg joined the staff as Administrative Assistant in April 2011. Martie is originally from Falls Church, Virginia and comes to us with over 50 years of experience in her field. She has been married for 50 years and has a son, daughter-in-law and two grandsons.
Ruthie Vaughn Nelson, Director of Music
Ruthie Nelson received her Masters in Music in Vocal Performance at the University of South Florida. She graduated summa cum laude from USF with a BA in music education. From 2008-2011 Nelson was the Choral Director of the Tampa Preparatory School in Tampa, Florida. Ruthie developed a love for vocal arts and conducted several “superior” rated ensembles. Nelson has been a clinician and adjudicator throughout the Tampa Bay Area. Currently, Nelson is on the voice faculty at Hillsborough Community College, the College of Central Florida, and Patel Conservatory. She is the director of the Tampa Bay Children’s Chorus and The Ocala Children’s Chorus, has a private voice studio, and is the music director at the First United Methodist Church of New Port Richey.
